WINDOWS: PHOTO INSTALLATION BY AMY RITTER

FIRST FRIDAY OPENING RECEPTION, MAY 5TH, 6-10PM.

ARTIST TALK: SATURDAY MAY 27TH, 1-5PM

Gravy is proud to present an innovative photography installation ‘Windows’ by Amy Ritter. Ritter’s work is an exploration of her relationship to her physical self vis-à-vis mobile homes and their interior landscapes. It stages her memories of her experience of growing up in a mobile home community—a place she’s left but still feels rooted to.  Ritter transforms the gallery space using Xerox prints, plywood, and cinderblocks—materials that relate back to the makeshift homes of her past.  She aims to represent and understand the environment she came from and navigate the place she inhabits now. She creates a memoryscape that plays with the viewer’s perception and challenge their relationship to both her objects and figures and the personal space they reconstruct.  By using her own body and self portraiture elements, ‘Windows’ is a refreshing view of the world through a woman's gaze.
