Opening Reception for The Interconnectedness Of All Things

The South Tower Gallery at Park Towne Place

Wednesday, January 10, 6-8pm, artist talks at 6:30 p.m.

Featuring the work of Henry Bermudez, Angela McQuillan, and Teresa Shields

InLiquid and Park Towne Place Museum District Residences are pleased to present The Interconnectedness Of All Things, an exhibition that explores the connection between cosmic, biological, and metaphysical structures. From cell structures, to organs, to ancient myths, and stars, this show seeks a common thread through the physical universe and our experience of it.

The reception is free, open to the public and begins with refreshments before brief talks by the artists at 6:30pm.

Henry Bermudez’s strikingly beautiful artwork is rich in detail and vibrant color. Born in Venezuela, he is deeply influenced by the culture of the Caribbean tropics. Living and working as an artist in the United States since 2003, Bermudez combines symbols and myth from ancient pre-Hispanic cultures with the iconography of contemporary art. His work will be displayed on the marble wall and on the wall to the left of the main entrance.

Angela McQuillan makes multimedia paintings and sculptures that draw parallels between the microscopic and the cosmic scale. Her work resembles cells, organisms, and bodily organs as well as celestial bodies such as galaxies and nebulae. Her work will be on display on the pedestals and the main gallery space, as well as the wall next to the Front Desk.

Teresa Shields creates grids of small square artwork that each focus directly on a single subject. With titles like “Sliced Grape” and “Cell Structure of a Stay At Home Mom,” her work offers a staggering variety of subject matter while finding the similarities between wildly different objects. Her work will be on display on the wall in the main gallery space.

The Interconnectedness Of All Things is a part of the Parkway 100’s Connections and Collections Centennial Celebration Exhibition Series.
