Oh, Snap! Honoring Your Influences

  • Philadelphia Photo Arts Center 1400 North American Street Philadelphia, PA, 19122 United States (map)

Rebekah Flake: Honoring Your Influences.

Flake begins her documentary-style photo projects in places where she has roots (Mississippi, Canada, Philadelphia) and where she has been transplanted (Berlin, Rome, Johannesburg, etc.) to tell stories of family, migration, romance, and colonialism. She will talk about how her love of contemporary African photography has not only influenced her career as a photographer and curator but has also inspired travels, collaborations, and friendships.

Oh, Snap! is a program created for local women to come together, share stories and learn about photography in a safe, non-judgmental space. Self-identifying women from the neighborhood and the larger community are welcomed to attend. You don’t have to sign up. You don’t have to pay. You come when you can. PPAC welcomes you to Oh Snap! where we make friends and photographs.

Oh, Snap! meets on the third Saturday of each month, from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm.

PPAC hopes that Oh, Snap! will bring together women of diverse backgrounds and experiences. The activities will develop according to the interests of its participants, but it’s safe to predict that you will learn photo basics, share photo tips, learn from photo professionals, and make your own photographs.
