PHILADELPHIA, PA -
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOCAL ARTIST SHOWS RECENT ARTWORK
WHAT: Local Cherry Hill, NJ artist, Denise H. Cooperman shows her recent paintings.
As a child Denise was surrounded by the rich brocades, smooth satins and lustrous silks of her parents' fabric manufacturing business. The vibrant colors and variety of textures are ingrained in her very soul, forming what is truly the fabric of her life.
The images in "The Fabric Of My Life" reflect Denise's wit and personality, along with her lifelong passion for decorating and fashion. She creates a whimsical fantasy world in which classic forms are embellished, traditional objects are given new function, and pop culture icons are re-imagined. The play of light and shadow, particularly on fabric, is interwoven with vivid color in her signature style.
While the abstract "Palette Tapestry" series appears to be a departure, these exuberant constructions are literally created from Denise's more traditional paintings: the materials are all salvaged from other works. Each year, she adds one piece to the collection, using her unused palette paints from a sitting, resins, plaster and glass in a tapestry of meaningful colors and forms.
A California native, Denise studied fine arts at University of Colorado at Boulder. She moved to Philadelphia, where she spent more than three decades as an interior designer. After a too-long hiatus, Denise returned to painting over ten years ago. Her work has been exhibited in galleries from Aspen, CO to Haddonfield, NJ and is found in many private collections.
