For years, Amberella has wheatpasted her Goth/Power Heart street art series around Philadelphia. This winter, she’s showing her work in a new light…

Streets Dept's Conrad Benner and Mission Taqueria are excited to announce Art at Mission’s Winter 2018-19 exhibition: “GLOW”, Neon Light Installation by Amberella!

Amberella is a Philadelphia-based mixed media and street artist. Most of her work is conceptual and often comments on popular culture, body image, social justice, or lady drama. She draws inspiration from past and present personal life experiences. Her work, raw and vulnerable, seeks to touch on the viewer’s emotions and evoke feeling upon first glance. Amber Lynn holds a BFA in Photography from the University of the Arts, where she has also taught. She has been showing her work in Philadelphia and beyond since 1999 and also other artists works at her prior gallery and boutique, Amberella. She was awarded Rad Girls Artist of the Year 2016.

“Something that I've always loved about the Goth/Power Hearts is that they truly have so many meanings depending on where they are placed and what mind is interpreting them. Personally my work feels very intense and emotional because it's coming from my deepest feelings, heart, and soul. The words shared represent all different types of struggles, love, relationships, the rebuilding of myself, and personal growth. With this installation, ‘GLOW’, I have had the opportunity to take a lighthearted spin on my work. Originally intended to speak to sassy dating or relationship banter, these words instead take a fun and playful twist when presented in a food establishment. Are you talking about me or my taco? Or is my taco talking to me? The space at Mission is filled with an undeniable glow, and I'm excited to share my work as pure eye candy – it looks delicious!” -Amberella
