  • iMPeRFeCT Gallery 5539 Germantown Avenue Philadelphia, PA, 19144 United States (map)

iMPeRFeCT Gallery is thrilled to present our first exhibit ever curated by high school students. We invite you to come and see "18", an exhibition of artwork by students from the Germantown Friends School Class of 2018, curated by 11 Senior Studio Art students lead by Megan Culp.

The theme of the show explores the number 18, what it means, feels, and looks like to be 18 in the year 2018. The show will include diverseu works, including installation, video, drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography.

This group of young artists is also taking on the ReDRooM, along with their postcard design, the reception and programming for their exhibit, and they are: Alex Boyd ✿ Liem Buckley ✿ Cassie Coale ✿ Emily Ecclestone ✿ Adina Gewirtzman ✿ Theo Kocher ✿ Teasha McKoy ✿ Celia Meyer ✿ Connor Pailas ✿ Lexi Pickering ✿ Sophie Starr

The GReaT GLaSS eLeVaToR will have the installation "No Pressure, Baba" by GFS staff photographer and videographer SCOTT FOLEY, based on his documentation of a recent trip to South Africa with some Seniors. His vibrant images will be available in different formats (some for a minimum donation of $1 each), and all proceeds will go to one of GFS's Global Studies scholarship funds for students who require financial aid to study abroad.

About Scott:
During this trip, he experienced a mingling of vivid colors, rich smells, loud music, and purposeful people. His images hold either a smile or a turned shoulder. The viewer, just as the artist, is left wondering what dreams haunt the woman singing into the hairbrush, what thoughts plague the lonely man looking out upon the blue sea, and perhaps more importantly, how much weight these thoughts hold when a child’s face-full smile washes over them?
