Lucia Alber - Leave Worry Behind

  • Practice 319 North 11th Street Philadelphia, PA, 19107 United States (map)

Fear and fantasy come together in “Leave Worry Behind,” an exhibition by Lucia Alber. Combining French boudoir aesthetics with elements of modern car expos and service centers, this exhibition welcomes the viewer to a world where woman and machine become one in the same. The artist creates a sulking room to recuperate and reflect on her experience with stalking and harassment. Using satire and humor, she attempts to parse the ways in which her trauma has infiltrated her perception of herself and the world around her. Leave Worry Behind is part of Alber‘s ongoing project Headlights, a series of zines examining the auto industry and its technological and social impact on sexual politics.

Lucia Alber is a multidisciplinary artist working in video, sculpture and installation. Her work often draws on satire and the absurd in order to address topics of sexuality, religion, and gender. Alber received her BFA for Fibers and Material Studies from Tyler School of Art in 2016, and was a former intern for Vox Populi where she showed her work in the collaborative exhibition “Playdate” in August 2016. She currently resides in Philadelphia, PA, and works from her studio in the Loom building in Port Richmond. To view past work and current projects by Lucia Alber, please visit:
