Join the African American Museum in Philadelphia for the opening of our spring/summer 2018 exhibition, Collective Conscious: The Art of Social Change. Along with wine and light fare, the June 1 opening will include in-gallery performances by area poets.
This group exhibition is produced in conjunction with the AAMP Residency for Art and Social Change, which strives to advance the work artists of color from around the Philadelphia region—while forging and deepening AAMP’s relationships and impact in Philadelphia neighborhoods. The featured artists were selected from the Residency nominees -mining their personal histories, and actively pushing out of their studios and into the communities not only as art makers, but as change makers.
Featured artists: Lavett Ballard, Russell Craig, Joshua Graupera, Keir Johnston, Nile Livingston, Sherman Fleming, Betty Leacraft, James Maurelle, Tieshka K. Smith, Shawn Theodore
Support for the research and development of the AAMP Residency for Art and Social Change has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.
