Fantasy Character

  • Temple Contemporary 2001 North 13th Street Philadelphia, PA, 19122 United States (map)

Join artist Celeste West for a live painting extravaganza asking attendees, “What’s your fantasy character?” on Saturday, June 16th from 4 - 6:30 pm at Temple Contemporary! Connecting with attendees through conversation, Celeste will transform guests’ fantasy characters into a tangible reality through her clever utilization of color and painterly style.

Through this artistic collaboration of color and desire we’ll discover that fantasy is closer than you think! A painter by trade, Celeste utilizes creative color palettes to generate her work and the narrative surrounding one’s fantasy character turning these dreams into tangible realities through art.

Celeste West is a member of Temple Contemporary’s Young Curators Council at the Tyler School of Art. The Young Curators Council provides a place and space for vibrant Philadelphians to craft their own public programming surrounding an artist’s work. During its inaugural year, the Young Curators Council will be elaborating on Trenton Doyle Hancock’s latest exhibition, “Moundverse Infants” in collaboration with the Philadelphia Doll Museum exposing the cultural disconnect surrounding dolls and who has the right to play. Enjoy the exhibition until July 27th and stay tuned for more programming from the Young Curators Council throughout the summer.

Major support for Fantasy Characters is provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, with additional support from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
