An Artist Talk with Didier William and Nestor Armando Gil

  • PAFA 128 North Broad Street Philadelphia, PA, 19102 United States (map)

Building Community in Diaspora: An Artist Talk with Didier William and Nestor Armando Gil.

Drawing on their respective Haitian and Cuban heritages, William and Gil both use mixed media to physically and intellectually “swarm” ideas of colonialism, creating bodies of work that imagine and critique histories of immigration, dislocation and relocation. In conversation with the curators of SWARM., PAFA’s summer exhibition of their work, the artists will discuss how their respective practices investigate constructed ideas of history, reflect the heritages of the diasporic communities they call home, and draw on a multiplicity of artistic practices. The discussion will be followed by a complimentary toast to the artists in PAFA’s Historic Cast Hall.

Cost: $15 / Free for PAFA Members
