For our September show - the first of the Fall season - we are thrilled to launch a publication celebrating the 10th anniversary of Grizzly Grizzly. Through a generous grant from the Velocity Fund, we hired writers to create critical and creative essays for each of the ten shows produced since September 2018. The catalog also features an introductory essay by Roberta Fallon, who contextualizes Grizzly Grizzly within the larger Philadelphia artist collective scene.

In the gallery, we will be continuing our two-month show with the works of former Grizzly Grizzly members: Ruth Scott Blackson, Michael Ellyson, Michael Konrad, Jacque Liu, Cindy Stockton Moore, Joshua Weiss and Bruce Wilhelm. Several of the artists are presenting new and site specific works. Cindy Stockton-Moore has created a new wall drawing, using her ethereal ink-wash technique to explore the tenuous relationship between the figure and the natural environment. Joshua Weiss presents a new collaboration with Jacob Lunderby, featuring wallpaper panels and objects which fuse the intimacy of painterly materials with bold, graphic imagery. Michael Konrad has erected a structure with his signature handmade “DIYvek.” The piece also serves as storage and tap for his home-brewed beer, which he will be serving up to visitors throughout the evening.

This project was supported in part by The Velocity Fund administered by Temple Contemporary with generous funding from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts
